A long potting bench in a greenhouse in low golden afternoon light, covered with the makings of several games at once. Coloured cards and seed packets lie in overlapping piles down its length, a row of books stands on end with a small wooden arch tunnelling beneath them, and a line of terracotta pots each holds a token, with painted figures waiting beside them. At the near end a brass hourglass has run through, next to a glass jar of coloured counters, a coil of green twine and two dice in a compartmented tray. A wicker basket of paper scraps sits on the floor with more scattered around it. Three children lean on the bench thinking it over while a fourth, in a wheelchair, reaches across to the pots. A tabby cat sleeps along the shelf above, beneath a hanging card reading GOOD GAMES GROW HERE, and a blackboard at the far end carries the question being settled: Games: co-op? 2-4? strategy? luck? all of the above?

Welcome to the Greenhouse Games. These are simple, playful ways to explore digital privacy and security, made to be picked up with whatever you have at hand and adapted as you go. Think of them as seeds: each one can be planted as described, but the most interesting growth comes when you start adjusting the conditions to suit the garden you actually have.
