The Unseen University library¶

The Librarian of Unseen University, an orangutan in wire-rimmed spectacles, sits at a wooden desk writing in a ledger by the light of a brass lamp. Stacks of old books surround him, taller shelves of older ones recede into the dark behind, and a single shaft of dusty light falls from a high window.

In Ankh-Morpork, the Unseen University library is the strongest point of l-space on the Disc. All libraries connect through it. All knowledge that was ever written, and some that has not been written yet, is accessible to those who know how to navigate the stacks. The Librarian, who is an orangutan and would prefer not to be reminded otherwise, tends the place with quiet authority.
